Ghanaian athletes have been urged by Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif to put in more training and win medals for their country in the 13th African Games.
He made this statement while touring Team Ghana’s Cape Coast training facility, where athletes from a variety of sports were getting ready for the Olympics.
More than 500 athletes from Ghana are anticipated to compete in a variety of sports, including triathlon, table tennis, swimming, cycling, badminton, and athletics.
Speaking to reporters during the tour, Mr. Mustapha Ussif said that the government has made significant investments to ensure that the games were held and to support the athletes’ preparations.
In addition, Mr. Mustapha Ussif encouraged Ghanaians to register as volunteers for the historic games, saying he was amazed by the volume of applications they received as soon as the link was opened.
By getting in touch with the Local Organizing Committee, the Sports Minister also exhorted Corporate Ghana to join forces and support the games.
On February 8, 2024, the athletes who had begun their training camp on January 9 in Cape Coast would be returned to the University of Ghana, where they would resume their training and evaluate the newly constructed sports facilities.
From March 8–23, 2024, Ghana will play home to the first-ever African Games, which are anticipated to draw over 3500 elite athletes from 54 nations.
