Allegations that service personnel were underpaid GH¢155 instead of the allowed GH¢715.57 have been refuted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) management.
According to recent reports, employees in the area were only getting GH¢155 as opposed to the GH¢715.57 that was authorized. These statements were purportedly made by Hamidu Apandago Mahamadu, the Tema Metro President of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA).
The NSS management, however, denied the accusations as “false, unfounded, and malicious” and said that staff members in the Central Region had received their full monthly allowances and arrears in a statement released on January 26, 2024.
“Management wishes to unequivocally state that service personnel in the Central Region have been paid full monthly allowances and arrears.
“Management has also not received any letter from the Central Regional Executive on any matter concerning unpaid allowances.
“Therefore, the allegations are false, unfounded, and malicious, and must be disregarded with the contempt they deserve.”
Therefore, the National Service Scheme requested that NASPA Executives use the proper channels of contact to resolve their issues.
“Management wishes to advise NASPA Executives at all levels to take advantage of the structured channels of communication available to them through their constitution to address issues that are unclear to them and should avoid making wild and unsubstantiated allegations and effusions in the media space,” the statement added.
