CNN has obtained a joint statement from the United States and the United Kingdom stating that they had carried out more airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen.
In a recent development, on Monday the US and UK jointly released a statement outlining eight targets they struck as part of their campaign against the rebels’ infrastructure.
According to CNN, the two nations conducted the attacks with assistance from Bahrain, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, and Bahrain.
Significantly, according to senior military and defense officials, the recent strikes on Houthi targets were considered “successful” because they successfully damaged missiles, weapons storage sites, and drone systems.
In a post-operation briefing to reporters on Monday afternoon, the officials stressed that the strikes “achieved the desired effect.”
On the other hand, the January 11 strike was less extensive than the initial joint operation, which targeted more than thirty Houthi targets.
According to CNN, the statement also stated that Monday’s strikes reportedly targeted a Houthi subterranean storage facility as well as a location linked to Houthi missiles and air surveillance.
Reportedly, the senior military officer, of the US struck eight facilities using surface ships, a submarine, and fighter jets from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He went on to say that Tomahawk cruise missiles and between 25 to 30 other precision-guided weapons were fired against the targets.
