Naa Ashorkor, a media personality and co-host of TV3’s New Day, is urging Ghanaians and football stakeholders to support the female national teams in light of the Black Stars’ recent poor performances.

Naa Ashorkor expressed her dissatisfaction on Twitter, emphasizing the need for additional financing to support Black Princesses and Black Queens. She noted that, despite their great accomplishments in several events, female teams have not received the backing they need.

She wrote: “It’s time to focus on the female teams. The Black Princesses have qualified for the U20 women’s World Cup. Last year the Black Queens won all their games except one. Give them the funding they need, give them the support.”

Similar to Naa Ashorkor, many Ghanaians held great expectations that the Blackstars would go to the next phase of the AFCON competition, especially when they were ahead 2:0 in the game’s final minutes.

But many fans’ faces were filled with despair when Ghana gave up a 2-0 lead to settle for a heartbreaking 2-2 draw at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Monday night.

With two points at the end of the group stage, the four-time AFCON winners were not able to secure a spot among the top four third-place teams in the past due to this particular outcome.

Several Ghanaian celebrities, in addition to Naa Ashorkor, have voiced their displeasure with the Black Stars’ appalling performance at the current AFCON.

Among them are notable people like comedian Lil Win, Samini, Shatta Wale, and Nana Aba Anamoah.
