Twelve cutting-edge trains have been successfully acquired by the government from Poland. The action has the potential to completely transform the nation’s rail system and advance the growth of the transportation industry as a whole.
The introduction of these state-of-the-art trains seeks to satisfy the growing demand for contemporary and comfortable travel options. The government’s commitment to enhancing and growing Ghana’s railway system includes the procurement of these trains. The focus is on providing efficient, reliable, and sustainable transportation solutions.
The first twelve of these modern diesel-powered trains are meant to be used on Ghana Railways’ long- and regional-distance lines. By the middle of the next month, it should be delivered from Poland.
Based on information gleaned from the Polish website “RK,” the first unit is presently completing final testing at the Pesa factory in Bydgoszcz. There are indications that Ghana may receive the new diesel multiple unit by the end of this month.
A total of 12 diesel multiple units are covered under the general contract with Ghanaian Railways, with an additional 10 units available as an optional benefit for the contracting party.
Interestingly, the vehicle’s technical specs are almost exactly the same as those of the RegioFox units that Bydgoszcz produces for Czech Railways.
On Friday, January 19, deputy minister of information Fatimatu Abubakar confirmed the news’ veracity by posting pictures of the trains on her social media accounts.
