Two Metro Mass Transit Limited employees have been granted GH₵50,000.00 bail with two sureties each by the Kaneshie District Court. The employees are accused of stealing wires and parts from certain buses.

Augustine Adu and Emmanuel Ageny denied planning to steal the GH₵250,000 worth of automotive wires and bus components.

But the court headed by Nana Abena Aso Owusu-Omenyo demanded that a landed property be used to support one of Adu’s sureties.

This came after the prosecution begged the court to make sure Adu returned to face justice because, after learning of Ageny’s arrest, he fled and it took a lot of work on the part of the police to find him.

The Kaneshie District Court has granted GH₵50,000.00 bail with two sureties each to two employees of Metro Mass Transit Limited. The workers are charged with stealing components and wires from specific buses.

Emmanuel Ageny and Augustine Adu denied having plans to steal the bus parts and automotive wires valued at GH₵250,000.

However, the court presided over by Nana Abena Aso Owusu-Omenyo insisted that one of Adu’s sureties be supported by a piece of landed property.

This came after Adu fled after learning of his arrest, making it difficult for the police to find him, and the prosecution pleaded with the court to ensure that Adu returned to face justice.

The accused, Ageny and Adu, were all employed by the Metro Mass Transit Head Office in Kaneshie, according to Chief Inspector Achana. On January 5, 2024, Metro Mass security received information about a person or persons who were unknown cutting some of the automotive wires fixed in the buses, keeping them in two large sacks, and putting them in one of the yard’s unserviceable buses.

According to the prosecution, the authorities assigned the security guards to make sure that there was adequate monitoring in order to apprehend the culprit or culprits.

Ageny was arrested and turned over to the police along with the exhibit after the complainant noticed him carrying one of the sacks to the main entrance in the yard three days later, the court heard.

Adu gave Ageny the order to carry one of the sacks from the bus to the yard’s main entrance, he told the police during the course of the investigations.

As a result, Adu was apprehended at his hiding place in the Tema Community 10.
