Indian writer, who wrote in Malayalam, under the genre of children’s literature K. B. Sreedevi is dead. She received several awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions and the Kerala State Film Award for Story.

K B Sreedevi was 85 when she passed away on Tuesday, on January 16, 2024, following age-related ailments, in Tripunithura. She was under treatment for some age-related illness and breathed her last around 9:30 am on Tuesday, said her family members. She has been living with her younger son K B Narayanan in Tripunithura for the past few years.

K. B. Sreedevi was born on May 1, 1940, in Vellakattumana in Vaniyambalam in present-day Malappuram district to V. M. C. Narayanan Bhattathippad and Gowri Antharjanam. She was educated at Tripunithura Girls’ High School and Varavoor Government School. She studied up to the tenth class.
K. B. Sreedevi also studied music and Sanskrit. Later she did higher studies in Sanskrit under Panditharaja P. S. Subbarama Pattar. For three years she practiced Veena under Naravath Devakiamma.
