Walter Kissinger was the younger brother of Henry Kissinger. He was a businessman and philanthropist. He was born in Fürth, near Nuremberg, in 1924. He died on May 3, 2021, at age 96.
Despite his achievements in business and philanthropy as what Fortune Magazine called in February 1982 “The Younger, Richer Kissinger,” Walter Kissinger’s public statements were never redolent of the chutzpah and bravado that observers of his older brother have grown accustomed to.
Walter Kissinger was sued by two former servants at his Long Island estate for nearly $1 million in back pay.
In their Brooklyn federal court lawsuit filed Thursday, the married couple Kevin and Elizabeth Cogan claim they worked for Walter, his late wife Eugenia, and their four kids at the sprawling Huntington Bay home for 10 years, doing landscaping, cooking, cleaning and even taking care of the ailing matriarch in 2012.
But the Cogans allege they weren’t properly paid for their duties, except for the occasional times they made $15 an hour for taking care of Eugenia and Walter, the suit says.
