André Leon Talley was an American fashion journalist, stylist, creative director, and Vogue magazine’s editor-at-large.
He was widely regarded as a fashion icon, and he was well-known for his advocacy for diversity in the fashion industry.
From 1983 to 1987, he was the magazine’s fashion news director, then its first African-American male creative director from 1988 to 1995, and finally its editor-at-large from 1998 to 2013.
In a 2013 Vanity Fair spread titled “The Eyeful Tower“, Talley was described as “perhaps the industry’s most important link to the past.”

According to his longtime friend and Houston resident Dr. Yvonne Cormier, Andre Leon Talley died of complications related to COVID.
He died at a hospital in White Plains on January 18, 2022, at the age of 73, of a heart attack stemming from complications of COVID-19.
Dr. Cormier, an anesthesiologist, made reference by saying Talley most likely had underlying health issues due to his weight.
