Ricardo Iorio was born on June 25, 1962, and is a legendary character in the world of Argentine heavy metal. His extraordinary musical adventure began in July 1978, when he crossed paths with another young and aspiring musician, Ricardo “el Chofa” Moreno. Their chance meeting during a screening of Led Zeppelin’s “The Song Remains the Same” marked the beginning of a friendship that would change the direction of Argentine heavy metal history.
At the age of 16, Iorio and Moreno decided to form a band and share their love of music. They formed a cover band with Carlos Aragone and Sandro Castaa, beginning to rock out to Black Sabbath music.
However, their creative energy eventually pushed them to develop original compositions inspired by their neighborhood experiences. Unfortunately, Castaa left the group, and the search for the ideal lineup continued. Drummers such as Carlos Ramos and Pichi Correa came and went, but their partnership as “Comunión humana” was brief.
The two Ricardos persisted in their musical endeavors and created a new band. They began writing their songs, including noteworthy compositions like “Voy an enloquecer,” “Muy Cansado Estoy,” “Si Puedes Vencer Al Temor,” and “Maligno” at Moreno’s house. They completed the roster with the addition of percussionist Gerardo Osemberg. El Chofa took over the guitar, while Iorio switched to bass and vocals.
