The late New Zealander stand-up comedian, author, radio and television presenter who was based in Australia Cal Wilson was born in New Zealand on 5 October 1970. After high school in Christchurch, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Canterbury.
Cal Wilson co-founded the Court Jesters improv group in 1990 and was part of the New Zealand team that won the World Theatresports title in Los Angeles in 1994.
Wilson then moved to stand-up comedy full-time and in 1997 was the inaugural winner (with Ewen Gilmour) of New Zealand’s most prestigious comedy award, the Billy T. She also regularly appeared on TV3’s Pulp Comedy. In 2003, she began living in Melbourne.

Cal Wilson is the daughter of her parents, her father Graeme Wilson, and her mother Barbara Wilson. Her father Graeme was an engineer and her mother Barbara was a primary school teacher.
Graeme and Barbara also have other children, their sons who are Cal’s brothers called Richard Wilson and Sean Wilson. Richard is a civil engineer and Sean is a physiotherapist.
