French rapper Mohamed Sylla, better known by his stage moniker MHD, was born on September 10, 1994, in Paris. He is recognized for fusing trap music with West African music to create the “Afro Trap” genre. He was formerly a member of the rap group 1.9 Réseaux.
MHD began his career as a rapper in Paris at the age of 18, having come from a family of West African descent and being born in Vendée. He originally became well-known in the middle of the decade of 2010 as a result of the content he posted on social media, primarily YouTube music videos. In just six months after its 2016 release, his debut album, MHD, sold more than 200,000 copies.
After receiving a great deal of praise, MHD later set out on a trip that took them to Guinea, England, Senegal, and Morocco. 19 is the musician’s second album, which was published in September 2018.
After investigating a homicide that occurred in 2018, French police detained MHD in January 2019 and accused him of second-degree murder. He was held without bail for 18 months while maintaining his innocence before being freed under conditions. His third album, Mansa, was made available in 2021.
