The old man in the wheelchair in Breaking Bad is Mark Margolis. He gained notoriety for his portrayal of “Tio” Hector Salamanca in the highly successful crossover series Breaking Bad in 2008 and Better Call Saul in 2015.

Mark Margolis died on August 3, 2023, after a short undisclosed illness in Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, at the age of 83. He was recognized as an American actor. His performance in Breaking Bad was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2012.

Margolis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 26, 1939, and was the son of Fanya Fried and Isidore Margolis. He was born into a Jewish family. He was a dropout at Temple University before moving to New York City. He became a student at 19 years under Stella Adler at the Actors Studio. He was also later trained by Lee Strasberg and Barbara Loden.
