Randall Herman Meisner who passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 77, in Los Angeles, due to complications associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and founding member of the Eagles.
Throughout his professional musical career, Meisner’s main role was that of bassist and backing high-harmony vocalist as a group member and session musician.

Meisner at the time of his death was known to have married twice. He married his high-school girlfriend named Jennifer Lee Barton, in 1963, and the young couple had three children before divorcing in 1981.
Meisner later married his girlfriend of twelve years, Lana Rae, in November 1996. The marriage lasted until she died in 2016.

Meisner was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and the son of farmers Herman Meisner and Emilie Haun Meisner. All four of his grandparents were Volga German immigrants. He recalled that his mother was always singing around the house. His maternal grandfather, George Haun, was a violin teacher.
