Lamar Hunt (August 2, 1932 – December 13, 2006) was a businessman most known in the United States for his sponsorship of American football, soccer, and tennis.
He was the primary founder of the American Football League (AFL), Major League Soccer (MLS), and the North American Soccer League (NASL), as well as a co-founder of World Championship Tennis.
He also founded and controlled the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL), the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS), and two more MLS teams at the time of his death, Columbus Crew and FC Dallas. Hunt was also instrumental in the establishment of the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun amusement parks in Kansas City.

The cause of his death was as a result of complications of prostate cancer.
Hunt was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of oil magnate H. L. Hunt and the younger brother of business magnates Nelson Bunker Hunt and William Herbert Hunt. Lamar grew up in Dallas, Texas.
He attended Culver Military Academy and earned a B.S. in geology from The Hill School in Pennsylvania in 1951 and Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1956.
