Eric Manu, a former landscaper and gardener in British Columbia, Canada, has returned to his old job in order to raise money for his tribe, the Akan tribe in southern Ghana. Manu became king of the tribe after his uncle passed away last year, and he felt it was his duty to return and provide healthcare for his new “subjects.”
Manu’s boss, Susan Watson, helped him get started on his mission by starting a foundation called To The Moon and Back. The foundation sent Manu off to Ghana with a shipment full of school supplies, clothing, laptops, and medical supplies.
Manu’s humility has impressed many, as he is willing to work as a gardener even though he is now a king. He says that working in Canada is a way for him to raise money for his tribe, and that he takes pride in working for his boss.
Manu’s dedication to his tribe and his willingness to work hard to provide for them is an inspiration to many. His hope is that the money he raises in Canada will help improve healthcare in his tribe, so he can return with another shipment of equipment.
