Jack Gleeson (born 20 May 1992) is an Irish actor best known for his role as Joffrey Baratheon in the HBO television series Game of Thrones (2011–2014). Gleeson took a break from acting after this role but has since appeared in indie theatre and the 2020 BBC drama Out of Her Mind. In the Land of Saints and Sinners, a forthcoming Irish thriller film, he will appear.

Rachel Gleeson and Hannah Gleeson are his only older siblings (sisters). They are both prominent in Irish theatre. When he was younger, he took theatrical classes with them and even acted in youth theatre.
Gleeson was a member of the Clonskeagh Independent Theatre Workshops (ITW).
Between 2010 and 2015, Gleeson attended Trinity College Dublin. He studied philosophy and religion and was named a university scholar in 2012. Gleeson was a member of DU Players at Trinity, where he met his future Collapsing Horse Theatre Company co-founders.
Meanwhile, Gleeson began performing when he was eight years old, at the Independent Theatre Workshop. His first cinematic roles are Reign of Fire (2002), Batman Begins (2005), Shrooms (2007), and A Shine of Rainbows (2009). In 2010, he played the lead in All Good Children. Variety magazine’s reviewer called Gleeson “the film’s big discovery.”
