Rapper Afroman, best known for his hit song “Because I Got High,” is being sued by Ohio sheriff’s deputies who searched his home in August 2022. The officers are claiming that Afroman is using videos and pictures from the raid in his music videos and merchandise, without their permission.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the deputies are alleging that Afroman’s wife filmed the search on her cellphone, and the rapper’s home was full of security cameras that recorded them during the raid. The officers argue that Afroman is using their images and likenesses for commercial purposes, causing them emotional distress, ridicule, humiliation, and loss of reputation.

In response, Afroman asserts that the footage is his property, which he used to identify the criminals who broke into his home, stole his money, and disconnected his home security system. He argues that the officers are angry because he’s using the footage to make money.

The lawsuit also reveals that Afroman claims that the deputies raided his home in search of narcotics, but came up empty-handed. He further alleges that the officers seized cash during the search, $400 of which wasn’t returned. However, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office investigated and found that the Adams County sheriffs had miscounted the money seized, and the correct amount had been returned.
