What is Jenny Slate famous for?
She is well known for her unmatched acting skills. Following early television acting and stand-up roles, Slate rose to prominence for her live variety shows in New York City, as well as for co-creating, writing, and producing the children’s short film and book series Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2010–present).
She rose to prominence after appearing as a cast member on the 35th season of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live in 2009 and 2010.
Her unusual voice led to her casting as Tammy Larsen in the critically acclaimed animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers (2012–present).
She was also known for her recurring performances as Mona-Lisa Saperstein on the NBC comedy television series Parks and Recreation (2013-2015) and Sarah Guggenheim on the Showtime comedy television series House of Lies (2013-2015), as well as the sketch comedy series Kroll Show (2013–2015). Slate performed Missy Foreman-voice Greenwald’s on the Netflix animated series Big Mouth from 2017 to 2020.
Slate gave voiceover responsibilities for Missy to actor Ayo Edebiri in 2020 because she believed that an African-American character should be performed by an African-American actor. While no longer providing Missy’s voice, Slate has continued to voice a variety of other characters on the program.
