American attorney Eric Himpton Holder Jr. was born on January 21, 1951. He was the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, serving from 2009 to 2015. The Bronx, New York, was the place of birth for Eric Himpton Holder Jr., whose parents were originally from Barbados. Eric Hampton Holder Sr., Holder’s father, was born in Saint Joseph, Barbados, and moved to America when he was 11 years old.
Holder, who worked in President Barack Obama’s administration, was the first African American to serve as attorney general of the United States. Holder graduated from Columbia University with a law degree and served in the U.S. Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section from 1976 until 1988.
