The late Barbara Everitt Bryant was better known as an American market researcher who became the first woman to head the United States Census Bureau.
She directed the bureau from 1989 to 1993 including the 1990 United States Census, and later also directed the American Customer Satisfaction Index.
Barbara Everitt was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to her parents, her father, William Littell Everitt, later became director of operational research for the United States Signal Corps and dean of engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

Bryant who is known to be the first woman to ever head the U.S. census, died on Friday, March 3, 2023, at age 96. One of her daughters, Linda Bryant Valentine, confirmed to NPR that Bryant died of natural causes surrounded by her family in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Bryant was survived by her three children: Linda, Randal, and Lois, and eight grandchildren. May her soul rest in peace.
