He was raised in Crumlin and educated there, first at the Gaelscoil Scoil Mológa in Harold’s Cross and then at the Gaelcholáiste Coláiste de hde in Tallaght, where he also discovered his love for football and his enthusiasm for the game.
Who was McGregor’s toughest opponent?
The “toughest” opponent Conor McGregor has ever faced was Nate Diaz, with whom he traded victories in 2016.
Diaz, along with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier (twice), Joseph Duffy, and Artemij Sitenkov, was responsible for one of McGregor’s 22-6 losses as a professional mixed martial artist.
According to McGregor, Diaz was the toughest of them all.
The Irishman responded simply, “Nate,” to the question “toughest opponent you’ve ever faced,” which was posed during a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday, 5 October.
After filling in for Rafael dos Anjos on short notice, Diaz submitted the former dual-weight UFC champion in the second round of their first encounter in March 2016.
But, in August of that same year, McGregor defeated the American over five exhausting rounds to exact revenge for what had been his lone UFC defeat up to that point.
