Billy Joe Red McCombs is the self-taught salesman and millionaire founder of the Red McCombs Automotive Group.

He is ranked #1054th overall and #373rd in the US on the 2015 Forbes Billionaires List.

Billy Joe Red McCombs was born in Spur, a small town in west Texas, in 1927. He was the oldest of four kids. Red McCombs and Charline Hamblin McCombs got married. The Dad of McCombs was a mechanic. Billy Joe didn’t exhibit the same amount of interest in automobiles when he was younger, which later led to his success in the auto industry.

Despite what has already been stated, he is most known for his activities as a philanthropist and sports team owner. Red helped San Antonio become more well-known by bringing professional sports there and by twice owning the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.

In the interim, McCombs was the owner of the Denver Nuggets. Red most recently served as the Minnesota Vikings’ owner. Around $135 million has been donated by Red, his family, and the McCombs Foundation, with significant sums going to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the business school at The University of Texas in Austin, which now carries Red’s name.
