Serbian actress Branka Veselinovi was born on September 16, 1918. In addition to 50 parts in films and television, her acting career extended more than 80 years and included 100 theatre performances. She was a supporter of UNICEF.
Branka Veselinovi was born in Austria-Beej, Stari’s Hungary. She was the sixth child of Jovanka, a librarian, and Aleksandar, a former teacher. Her talented artists’ parents started her off on the piano at a young age. She excelled at both composing and performing poetry. She has six siblings in total.
From 1936 until 1938, Veselinovi studied acting at the National Theatre in Belgrade. At the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, she completed her acting training when she was 19 years old, and she made her theatrical debut in the production of Charles’ Aunt. She became well-known for her biting and hilarious portrayals. She relocated to Belgrade in 1940.
She started developing her profession in Belgrade in 1940 by performing in several plays in various theatres. Along with 50 parts in films and television, Veselinovi performed on stage more than 100 times. She established the award in her honour in 2012, and actresses including Neboja Glogovac, Vojin Etkovi, and Seka Sabli were among those to receive it. Sept. 2018 was Veselinovi’s 100th birthday.

In recognition of her portrayal of Gina in Branislav Nui’s Bereaved Family, she received the Sterija Award in 1964. She also received the Order of Labor with a golden wreath, the Branislav Nui Award, and the Vuk Karadi Award. She was an honorary resident of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and the Children’s Village near Sremska Kamenica.
