In Homs, Syria, Abdulfattah Jandali was born on March 15, 1931. His mother was a stay-at-home mom, while his father was a self-made millionaire. Jandali attended the “American University of Beirut” after finishing high school.
He became become an activist while attending the university and even spent three days in jail. Midway through the 1950s, he relocated to New York from Beirut. He began residing with Najm Eddin al-Rifai, a relative who served as the Syrian ambassador to the United States.
Following his time at “Columbia University,” he transferred to “Wisconsin University,” where he earned a Ph.D. in Economics and Political Sciences.
