Piers Inigo Haggard, a British director who worked in theater, television, and film, lived from 18 March 1939 until 11 January 2023. He died at the age of 83 years old.
Before joining the first National Theatre company in 1963, Haggard worked as an assistant director at the Royal Court in 1960, directed at Dundee Rep and Glasgow Citizens, and worked as a director’s assistant to Laurence Olivier and Franco Zeffirelli.
He transferred to BBC Television in 1965 and began directing plays for the anthology drama series Thirty-Minute Theatre in the 1960s.
Later, he worked on more prestigious anthology programs like Play for Today for the BBC, Armchair Theatre, Callan, and Public Eye for ITV.
