Renée Rebecca Geyer was an Australian vocalist considered one of the finest exponents of jazz, soul, and R&B genres. As a solo artist in Australia, she enjoyed commercial success with “It’s a Man’s Man’s World,” “Heading in the Right Direction,” “Stares and Whispers” in the 1970s, and “Say I Love You” in the 1980s.

Geyer was also a well-known and sought-after backing vocalist, with session credits including Sting, Chaka Khan, Toni Childs, and Joe Cocker.

Geyer was named Renée after another Holocaust survivor who had assisted her mother in Auschwitz after Josef Mengele had ordered the execution of the rest of her mother’s family. The Geyers came to Sydney when she was a child because her parents were managers of a migrant hostel.

Who inherited Renée Geyer money and estate?

Unfortunately, details about who inherited her money are still unknown. Her family does not want that information made public.

Geyer began her singing career as a vocalist with the jazz-blues bands Dry Red in 1970, at the age of 16, while still a student at Sydney Girls High School. Eric McCusker was also a member of the group (later of Mondo Rock).

She sang “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees for her audition. She quickly departed Dry Red to join other bands, including the more skilled jazz-rock outfit Sun.
