David Duke Carr is a former American professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League for 11 seasons. The Houston Texans selected him first overall in the 2002 NFL Draft.
Carr attended Fresno State University and played football there. Carr also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. After the Giants’ victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, he received a Super Bowl ring as a backup.
Carr took over as Fresno State’s starting quarterback in 2000 and 2001 after redshirting in 1999. The Bulldogs went 7-5 and 11-3 while he was quarterback. During his senior year, the team defeated Colorado, Oregon State, and Wisconsin, all of which were members of BCS conferences. There was speculation about whether the Bulldogs would earn a BCS bid, which was unheard of for a BCS non-automatic qualifying conference team at the time.
