She has released hundreds of albums and singles over the course of her career and won numerous honors, including 14 Grammys, the Polar Music Prize, and inductions into the Grand Ole Opry in 1992 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008. 2018 saw her win the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Harris started playing in a trio again right away with Tom Guidera and Gerry Mule. In 1971, Chris Hillman, a former Byrds member who had taken over the band, saw her sing for fans of the country rock band the Flying Burrito Brothers.
Hillman was captivated by Harris and momentarily considered inviting her to join the group.
Instead, when Gram Parsons was looking for a female vocalist to collaborate with on his debut solo album, GP, Hillman gave him his recommendation.
