Lata Mangeshkar, also known as Hema Mangeshkar, was an Indian playback singer and infrequent music composer. She was born on September 28, 1929, in New Delhi. One of India’s greatest and most influential vocalists, she is largely regarded as such.
She earned honorific names like “Queen of Melody,” “Nightingale of India,” and “Voice of the Millennium” for her contributions to the Indian music business over an eight-decade career.
She received numerous awards, including the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, two Special Awards, the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award, four Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, and three National Film Awards.
She was among the first Indian playback singers to perform in London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1974. The Indian Army and the nation were honored in her final song, “Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki,” which was released on March 30, 2019.
She at one point claimed the title of most-recorded artist in history between 1948 and 1987, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
