Michael Eugene Archer, an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer, goes by the stage name D’Angelo.

He was born on February 11, 1974. He first gained popularity after working with the R&B group Black Men United on the song “U Will Know.”

The Recording Industry Association of America granted him platinum certification for the release of his debut studio album, Brown Sugar, in 1995.

It received high marks from music critics and is recognized for establishing the neo-soul subgenre (RIAA). The third song on the album, “Lady,” reached its peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at position ten.
