Sade Adu, also known as Helen Folasade Adu CBE (born 16 January 1959), is a British singer best known for being the lead singer of her own band. She was raised in Nigeria.
One of the most well-known British female artists in history, she is widely credited with influencing contemporary music.
She was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the UK in 2002 for her contributions to the music industry, and in the 2017 Birthday Honours, she was elevated to Commander.
Sade was raised in Essex, England, starting when he was four years old. He was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. She attended Saint Martin’s School of Art in London before joining the band Pride in the early 1980s, and she had some success as a fashion designer and part-time model.
After becoming well-known for her performances, she formed the band Sade, and in 1983 she obtained a recording contract with Epic Records.
Where did Sade go to college and high school?
Sade relocated to Holland-on-Sea, Essex when she was 11 years old to live with her mother. At the age of 18, she traveled to London and attended Saint Martin’s School of Art to study fashion design after completing her studies at Colchester Institute and Clacton County High School.
