British singer Sade Adu was born in Nigeria and is best known as the frontwoman of her own band. Sade is one of the most famous British female artists in history and is frequently cited as having influenced modern music.
Sade’s accomplishment in the music business was acknowledged in the UK with an award of the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2002, and she was named Commander in the 2017 Birthday Honours.
Sade recorded the acoustic ballad “Flower of the Universe” in March 2018 for the Disney movie A Wrinkle In Time soundtrack. Director Ava DuVernay said of requesting Sade to contribute to the record, “I never expected she’d say yes, but asked anyway.” Later same year, Sade released “The Big Unknown” for Widows, a 20th Century Fox movie, as the soundtrack.
Sade decided to write the song for the movie, according to Steve McQueen, because “the original series of Widows had strongly resonated with her.”
