Who inherited Ella Fitzgerald money and estate?
Her vast estate was bequeathed to her adopted son Ray Brown Jr. who followed in her footsteps to become a legendary jazz and blues singer.
Fitzgerald battled with diabetes for many years in the latter part of her life. Her diabetic condition caused numerous difficulties for her. She was briefly hospitalized in 1985 for respiratory issues, again in 1986 for congestive heart failure, and again in 1990 for exhaustion.
Due to the ravages of diabetes, she had to have both legs amputated below the knee in 1993. The disease also took a severe toll on her eyesight.
