Jocelyn Brando was a writer and actress from the United States. Brando is best known for her role in the film noir The Big Heat as Katie Bannion (1953). Marlon Brando’s older sister, Brando, was born in San Francisco, California. Brando studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Brando began her career on stage by performing in a play directed by her mother, who was a principal in an Omaha community theater group. Her mother, Dorothy Brando, had given Henry Fonda his theatrical debut in this same group in the play “You and I” in October 1925. On January 2, 1942, she made her Broadway debut in The First Crocus at the Longacre Theatre; the play closed after five performances.
On February 18, 1948, she made her Broadway debut in her second role. In Mister Roberts, she played Navy nurse Lieutenant Ann Girard, who was played by family friend Henry Fonda. The play was a smash hit that lasted about three years (1,157 performances).
