His death was announced by his 33-year wife, the director Betty Kaplan, who did not provide a cause of death.
Rawley, who worked in Los Angeles and London, was crucial in the global expansion of ICM, establishing businesses in China, Latin America, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and other parts of Europe either directly or through affiliates.
Rawley was renowned for his creative funding, packaging, and international distribution of movie pictures. Prior to the 1970s, most films were produced by major studios or small independents when he first started out. For both Hollywood majors and independent films, Rawley was one of the first to access independent funding, which came primarily from Europe, Southeast Asia, and Japan.
Rawley was born in London in 1938 and attended Oxford University for his undergraduate and graduate studies. Following his work as a theatrical producer, he joined CMA (a forerunner of ICM) in 1966 and rose to the positions of managing director of the London office and head of European Operations.
The family is yet to make an official pronouncement about his funeral arrangements. Keep your eyes locked here for additional updates. Rawley’s children Pascale, Fabienne, and Rufus, as well as his grandchildren Cooper, Tarka, Merlin, Rowan, and Ivo, survive him in addition to his wife.
