Alfred Lennon

Alfred Lennon, also known as Freddie Lennon, was an Englishman best known as John Lennon’s father. After his father died, Alfred spent many years in an orphanage with his sister, Edith.

In 1938, Lennon married Julia Stanley. John was their only child, but because Alfred was frequently away at sea during World War II, he did not see much of him during his childhood. During this time, Julia became pregnant with another man’s child.

Alfred offered to look after his wife, their child, and the expected baby, but Julia declined. Alf had very little contact with his son until Beatlemania, when they reconnected, but the pair had only intermittent contact after that.

Alf died in Brighton, England, where he had moved after marrying Pauline Jones, with whom he had two sons.

Julia Lenon

Julia Lennon was the mother of English musician John Lennon, who was born during her marriage to Alfred Lennon.

Julia handed over custody of her son to her eldest sister, Mimi Smith, after complaints to Liverpool’s Social Services. Julia later had one daughter as a result of an affair with a Welsh soldier, but the child was given up for adoption due to family pressure.

Julia then had two daughters, Julia and Jackie, with John “Bobby” Dykins. Julia never divorced her husband, preferring to live as Dykins’ common-law wife for the rest of her life.
