Al Green is a singer, songwriter, pastor, and record producer from the United States. Al Greene, the sixth of ten children born to sharecropper Cora Lee and Robert G. Greene, Jr., began performing with his sister in a group called the Greene Brothers when he was about ten years old. In the late 1950s, the Greene family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Green founded the Full Gospel Tabernacle church in Memphis in 1976. Green lives and preaches in Memphis, not far from Graceland. Green is a 33rd Degree member of the Prince Hall Masons, Freemasonry’s African-American wing.
