Luka Dončić is a Slovenian professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association.

Doni signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid in September 2012, at the age of 13, and immediately stood out on the under-16 team with coach Paco Redondo.

Dončić grew up in the Slovenian city of Ljubljana.

 

Dončić relocated to Madrid, where he lived with football and basketball prospects. Dončić led Real Madrid to a Minicopa Endesa title in February 2013, averaging 24.5 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals per game. Dončić made his 2016-17 season debut against Unicaja on September 30, 2016, recording 6 points and 4 assists in 19 minutes.

On October 3, 2016, Dončić had 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in an NBA preseason win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. On December 4, Dončić had a season-high double-double of 23 points and 11 assists in a 92-76 win over Montakit Fuenlabrada. This was his first ACB player of the week award. Dončić took on a larger role for Real Madrid in the 2017-18 season after the team’s star player, Sergio Llull, tore his ACL during EuroBasket 2017.
