Daniel Stewart Anderson, an Australian rugby league coach, was born on May 3, 1967. Anderson has coached teams in the NRL’s New Zealand Warriors and Parramatta Eels as well as the Super League’s St. Helens. At the representative level, he has also coached New Zealand and the Exiles.
Anderson started his coaching career in 1999 at the Parramatta Eels and worked his way up to coach in the Premier League before being named Brian Smith’s assistant coach in 2000.
In 2001, Anderson was chosen as coach of the New Zealand Warriors. He led them to their first finals series in 2001 and their first Grand Final in 2002. His contract was terminated in 2004 after a bad start to the season.
St Helens won the Rugby League Challenge Cup and Grand Final in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Anderson was also named BBC Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2007. St Helens lost to Leeds Rhinos in 2008’s Super League XIII Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Craig Anderson was the head coach of the Parramatta Eels for three years. He guided the Eels to a remarkable 2009 National Rugby League Grand Final. In 2010 his contract was terminated by the club, and he returned to work as NRL Referee elite performance manager.
On January 30, 2019, it was made public that Anderson had worked in recruitment for the Sydney Roosters. The Eastern Suburbs team had to persuade the NRL that Anderson was a suitable candidate for registration before the club could accept him. After two years away from the sport, Anderson has been given the go-ahead to join Easts with certain limitations on his position, according to an NRL official.
