Julian Harold Hudson, an English archaeologist, producer, and presenter, was born on January 9, 1970. He is best known for hosting the BBC program Escape to the Country.
Hudson was born in Colchester, in the county of Essex, in 1970. He is Cliff Hudson’s and Pam Hudson’s son. He spent his early years at his mother’s 40-year-old Bed & Breakfast in Lexden, a formerly rural village that is now a Colchester suburb. His father was a mechanical engineer and technical director for E H Bentall & Co. in the large town of Heybridge in the Maldon District of Essex.
He frequently hosts Countryfile, a BBC One environmental documentary program. After a brief military career, Hudson transitioned into TV production in 1996, specializing in historical series.
He started his career as a Discovery Channel employee before collaborating with Richard Holmes of the BBC on three military history series, Time Team on Channel 4, and Horizon on BBC 2. He devised and produced the ITV series Revival, which received a nomination from the Royal Television Society, after taking over as the lead presenter on the ITV Meridian program The Making of England and collaborating with Phillip Schofield on the film Have I Been Here Before.
