Leslie Lloyd Odom Jr. born August 6, 1981, is a singer and actor from the United States.
He made his Broadway debut in 1998 and rose to prominence for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in the musical Hamilton, for which he received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album the same year.
Odom was born in the New York City borough of Queens. Leslie Lloyd Odom Sr., his father, worked in sales. One of his maternal great-grandfathers was from South Africa, and another came from Bridgetown, Barbados. Odom’s family relocated to Philadelphia’s East Oak Lane neighborhood, where he grew up.

For middle school, he went to Julia R. Masterman School, and for high school, he went to Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts.
Odom and his family attended Canaan Baptist Church in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood, where he sang solos in the church chorus.
He received an honors degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before moving to Los Angeles in the summer of 2003.
