American actor and filmmaker Edward Harrison Norton was born on August 18, 1969. He has won and been nominated for many honors, including the Golden Globe and three Academy Awards.
Norton, who was born in Boston and was reared in Columbia, Maryland, was captivated by theatrical performances at nearby sites as a young child. He worked in Japan for a short while after receiving his Yale College degree in 1991 before relocating to Manhattan to pursue an acting career.
In 1996, he made his acting debut in Primal Fear, which received great praise and garnered him both an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor and a Golden Globe for best-supporting actor. He received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his performance in American History X (1998) as a former neo-Nazi. Also in 1999, he appeared in the cult classic movie Fight Club.
