Wroughton, Toby The English-American actor Craig CMG (born 2 March 1968) is best known for playing James Bond in the film series beginning with Casino Royale (2006) and continuing through No Time to Die (2021).

After getting training at the National Youth Theatre in London and earning his degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Craig began his career on stage in 1991.

His first acting roles were in the family drama The Power of One (1992) and the motion feature A Kid in King Arthur’s Court (1995), but his breakthrough performance was in the drama series Our Friends in the North (1996).

In the 2006 reboot of the Bond franchise, Casino Royale, he played James Bond. Critics gave the movie high marks, and Craig received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

In addition to Bond movies since then, he has also appeared in The Golden Compass (2007), Defiance (2008), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), and Logan Lucky (2009). In the 2019 murder mystery comedy Knives Out and Glass Onion, where he played Detective Benoit Blanc, he received two Golden Globe nods (2022).

He went to West Kirby’s Hilbre High School. When he left at the age of 16, he enrolled in the sixth form at Calday Grange Grammar School. He participated in union rugby for Hoylake RFC.

Craig made his stage debut in the Oliver production at Frodsham Primary School when he was six years old. By going to see plays at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre with his mother, he developed an interest in serious acting.

He performed in the parts of Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella at Hilbre High School when he was 14 years old in 1982. He moved to London after being admitted into the National Youth Theatre in 1984 and worked part-time in restaurants to pay for his study.
