Australian actor Hugh Michael Jackman AC was born on October 12, 1968. He began his career in theater and television before landing his breakthrough role as James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine in the 20th Century Fox X-Men film series (2000-2017).

Until his record was surpassed in 2021, this role earned him the Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel character.” Jackman has won numerous honors, including two Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Emmy Award. In the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours, Jackman was named a Companion of the Order of Australia for his contributions to the performing arts and to society at large.

He was nominated for two Oscars for his role in Les Misérables. Jackman also provided voice roles in the animated films Flushed Away, Happy Feet, Rise of the Guardians (2012), and Missing Link (2019).

In addition, Jackman is well-known for his early theater performances in Carousel (2002) and Oklahoma! (1998). For his performance in The Boy from Oz on Broadway, Jackman received the 2004 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

He made a comeback to the stage in 2021 playing Harold Hill in The Music Man’s Broadway revival. He has hosted the Tony Awards four times and received an Emmy for doing so in 2005. In 2009, he also presided over the 81st Academy Awards.

Hugh Jackman parents: Who are his father and mother?

Grace McNeil and Cambridge-educated accountant Christopher John Jackman welcomed Jackman into the world in Sydney, New South Wales. His English-speaking parents had immigrated to Australia in 1967 under the “Ten Pound Poms” program.

Because his parents were born in the UK, Jackman also holds British citizenship in addition to his Australian citizenship. Nicholas Isidor Bellas, one of his paternal great-grandfathers, was a Greek immigrant to the Ottoman Empire (now in Greece).

Following being converted with evangelist Billy Graham after their marriage, his parents became devoted Christians. Jackman, the second of his parent’s children to be born in Australia, has four older siblings.
