Veteran actor Gibson Gathu Mbugua, best known for his portrayal of a prosecutor in the Vioja Mahakamani drama, has passed away.
The ‘prosecutor’s’ death was verified on Tuesday by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
The family appealed to Kenyans to assist with a kidney transplant treatment that Gathu was to endure.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta donated Ksh 2 million to pay the hospital cost at a significant fundraising in June 2022.
Gathu informed his followers that the kidney transplant had been successful and that he has since been released in August 2022.
“I have been in the hospital since July 18, 2022, and I was discharged on August 3, 2022. I feel so good,” he said.

The family of the renowned actor revealed that his kidneys had failed in 2021 after the actor had been suffering from diabetes for more than 20 years. His age at the time of death is unclear at the moment.
