The passing of Rick Anderson, the co-founder and longtime Tubes bassist who contributed to songs including “She’s a Beauty,” “Talk to Ya Later,” and “White Punks on Dope,” has come as a shock to his fans. He died at the age of 75.

The band released a statement in which they acknowledged Anderson’s passing on December 16 but provided no other information.

From the group’s 1975 debut until its 1996 release, Anderson contributed to every record, and he toured with them until 2022. His bass can be heard on legendary rock songs like “Talk to Ya Later,” “White Punks on Dope,” “What Do You Want from Life?” and “Don’t Touch Me There,” as well as the group’s lone pop hit, “She’s a Beauty,” which reached the Top 10 in 1983.

The band, which was founded in San Francisco in 1972, was well-known for its exuberant live performances, which in their early years featured extravagant stage sets, props, and choreography by Kenny Ortega, who would later become the director of “High School Musical.” Their early performances were opulent and occasionally lewd.

Burial Service

The details of his burial are yet to be revealed.
