Wesley Studi, a member of the Cherokee Nation and a Native American actor and producer, was born on December 17, 1947. In Nofire Hollow, Oklahoma, a little community in Cherokee County with the same name as his mother’s clan, Studi was born into a Cherokee family. He is the son of homemaker Maggie Studie and ranch worker Andy Studie.
He was exclusively fluent in Cherokee at home prior to starting elementary school. In 1964, he graduated with a degree in dry cleaning from the Chilocco Indian Agricultural School.
Throughout his career, he has received accolades and praise from critics, particularly for the way he has portrayed Native Americans in movies. He appeared in movies such as The New World (1993), Geronimo: An American Legend (1993), Dances with Wolves (1990), and The Last of the Mohicans that were nominated for Academy Awards as well as those that won them (1992). His performance as Sagat in Street Fighter is also well remembered (1994). He has appeared in numerous movies and television shows, including Hostiles, Heat, Mystery Men, Avatar, A Million Ways to Die in the West, and Penny Dreadful.
