Her breakout performance came in the 1982 movie Diner, and she went on to star in movies including Tender Mercies, Eddie and the Cruisers, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, The Big Easy, Johnny Handsome, and Sea of Love in the years that followed (both 1989).
