Sapani is one of six children born to Ghanaian immigrants in London. His upbringing was spent in Hackney, and he began his acting career at Kentish Town’s Weekend Arts College. He received his education at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Sapani made an appearance in Danny Boyle’s film Trance. Aside from that, he was involved in other of August Wilson’s plays, including Joe Turner’s Come and Gone and Radio Golf. He also appeared in Errol John’s Moon on a Rainbow Shawl and The National Theatre’s Medea performance.
He portrayed drug lord Michael Kong in the 2013 Indian action film Singam II.
